HANSAENG COSMETICS RIN Bi-gyeol Soo Cream *

The second item in my BNT Beauty Box for December is the RIN Bi-gyeol Soo Cream* from Hansaeng Cosmetics. If you've been following my reviews for BNTNews International, then you might have an idea of this brand and product already, as I reviewed their RIN Bi-gyeol Yun Cream in November. This is a similar product, from a different line.

HANSAENG COSMETICS RIN BI-GYEOL SOO CREAM

Hansaeng Cosmetics claims: "RIN Bi-gyeol Soo Cream provides intense moisture and nourishment from six-year-old fermented ginseng, oriental herbal complex called Danhwayeon, and other oriental ingredients. It contains sodium hyaluronate which lets moisture penetrate deep into your skin, niacinamide which clears and brightens skin, and adenosine which firms your fine lines."

PACKAGING

Just like with the RIN Bi-gyeol Yun Cream, the RIN Bi-gyeon Soo Cream's packaging is gorgeous. The packaging for the two creams are almost identical, with the only differences being the colors of the two. The Soo cream comes in a box with blue and yellow flowers, and in a frosted blue jar with a silver lid. I think I quite like the color scheme for the Soo cream more.

INGREDIENTS

While comparing the Soo cream with the Yun cream, I noticed that the two have very similar ingredients lists – they both contain six-year-old fermented ginseng, oriental herbal complex Danhwayeon, sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, and adenosine. The lists only differ by a little, I'm guessing that's why only the texture and scent are slightly different.

You can see the full ingredients list and COSDNA analysis here.

TEXTURE

Compared to the Yun cream, the Soo cream is less rich, and a lot more watery. (I heard from somewhere that "Soo" actually means water in Korean, but I wasn't entirely sure so I had to do a search. Turns out that soo 수 can be written with two different hanja. One of them is 水, which means water. Of course I don't know if that's the reason why they named it "Soo", but I just thought I'd share this interesting bit of info heheh.)

SCENT

The Soo cream has a flowery scent, just like the Yun cream, but for some reason it's stronger..? I feel like the scent lingers for much longer. It's bothersome for me, and I'm not sure if I can get used to it.

PERFORMANCE

Its performance is exactly the same as the Yun cream's – my skin was visibly brighter and more supple after just a week of use. The only difference was that I didn't get any breakouts, even on days I accidentally slather a lot of product, which was the main reason I had to stop using the Yun cream. It's also a lot more hydrating. I think it's because the Soo cream is not as heavy. It does still feel a bit greasy if you put too much though, so I only use it at night. I use it right after my essence, and then I seal all the moisture in with my KICHO Sheep Oil Cream.

PRICE & AVAILABILITY

This product is ₩44,000 – roughly P1,800. For a hanbang item that is chock full of herb and flower extracts that are good for you (and actually delivers results), in my opinion that's a very good price. Plus, since you only need a small amount to cover your whole face, this will last you a long time.

Hansaeng Cosmetics isn't available in the Philippines, but you can get this product from Kmall24 for $40.95.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Personally, I liked the RIN Bi-gyeon Yun Cream a lot, even though it wasn't the best choice for my oily skin. So when I received this cream and found that it had almost the same brightening and anti-wrinkle properties, only with a texture somewhat better suited to my skin, I was really happy! Though like I said, The Soo cream still feels a bit greasy, but not as much as the Yun . The only deal-breaker for me though, is the scent. I'm very sensitive when it comes to scents, and while I was able to tolerate the scent of the Yun cream, I'm not sure if I can grow to like (or at least, eventually learn to ignore) the more apparent scent of the Soo cream. But for all the cream's great effects, I'll try to deal with the scent a little longer.
