travel diary // Boracay escape

November 1, 2011

Photos from our recent trip to Boracay. We spent four days and three nights at the Le Soleil de Boracay. I spent most of the time in the hotel watching TV while everyone was out enjoying the Boracay nightlife, because I'm not much of a party person really. The only times I ever went out were when we went to eat lunch or dinner, when we went swimming in the afternoon (because I refused to go swimming when the sun was still glaring) and when we went around looking for souvenirs. Other than that, I mostly just stayed in and watched Halloween specials on TV. But I did have a lot of fun. I managed to buy a few of the local goods (including a dress, a floppy hat, and some accessories), get my hair put up in braids, splash around in the sea, and finally get my ears pierced by a group of quirky guys who offer henna tattoo services for a living.

Despite having to endure four days of no wifi in the hotel room and having sand all over the bed whenever I lie down, overall I really liked Boracay. Though I wish there'd be a different way to get there other than by plane; portkeys or apparition would be much better, in my opinion. And I still prefer a much quieter environment-- Bora was a bit too crowded for me. Maybe next time I could drag Aian along to a beach that's more isolated from people for a week of rest and relaxation. (But knowing me, I'd jump into the water any chance I get.) A dream vacation like that would be just so lovely.
